PH032 - Cross Stitch Kitchen

A collection of five pot mats and four table mats to suit any dollhouse kitchen.  Pot mat designs include a house, a kettle, fruit and two geometric designs.  The table mats range from flying geese to Christmas trees, Valentine hearts and a stylised floral design.

Each mat is worked with only two or three colours in cross stitch on a background of 32 count evenweave linen.  The colours can be easily adjusted to suit any dollhouse decor and you could also repeat designs to make larger mats or tablecloths.  Worked in cross stitch, the patterns stitch up surprisingly quickly as the background can be left unworked.  They would make great last minute gifts!

Instructions for finishing the pot mats as a single layer of fabric (not folded over at the back) with a hanging loop of embroidery thread are included in the pattern.  This method allows the pot mat to sit much flatter on a dollhouse table than pot mats which have a backing or folded edges.  The table mats are finished with a self fringe of the backing fabric.

Each pot mat measures approximately 3/4 inch (2 cm) square.  The table mat designs range from 3/4 inch (2 cm) square to 2" (5 cm) long, but by repeating the patterns they could be made to almost any size.   Try the pot mat designs as the centre for cushions or pillows in cross stitch or petitpoint, or make longer runners or placemats for your dollhouse dining table.
